I just watched Neru, and I have to say, it kept me glued to my seat until the very end. Recently, I’ve been exploring Malayalam thrillers—some of them impressed me, while others didn’t quite hit the mark. Initially, I had no specific expectations for Neru. But when I found out the director was Jeethu Joseph, my anticipation soared. After all, he's known for delivering gripping narratives. And of course, Mohanlal sir is in the lead—an absolute legend who has been entertaining Indian audiences for decades.
Within the first 10 minutes, I was glad I picked this film. It’s incredibly engaging. I can’t help but marvel at how filmmakers and writers come up with such compelling ideas. Creating a concept is hard enough, but translating it into a 2-hour-and-30-minute film while keeping the audience hooked is a whole other challenge.
This isn't your typical "whodunit" thriller where you spend the movie trying to guess the culprit. Within 20 minutes, you know who the accused is. The real tension comes from proving that the accused is indeed guilty. Most of the movie takes place in the courtroom, featuring intense arguments between the lead actor, who plays a lawyer, and opposing counsel. I don’t want to spoil the plot, but it centers on a blind girl who is raped by a young man, with no clear evidence. The core of the film lies in how the lead actor proves the young man’s guilt.
Mohanlal and Siddique both delivered phenomenal performances, with excellent support from Priyamani. The actress portraying the blind girl was outstanding, showing incredible maturity in her role. The dialogues felt authentic and perfectly suited to the courtroom setting. In fact, the writing is the backbone of this film—every argument is engaging and well-crafted. Jeethu Joseph once again brings us a thrilling story told in his unique style. Creating a film like this is no easy feat.
Kudos to the entire cast and crew, both on-screen and behind the scenes. Everyone involved in this movie deserves praise for their commendable work.
If you haven’t seen Neru yet, I highly recommend you do. You won’t be disappointed!
