Finally got to watch Devara Part 1, one of the most anticipated films of the year, and I must say, I really enjoyed it. It's definitely worth watching. I understand that everyone has their own opinions—some may like it, while others might not—but for me, it worked. The best indicator of a great film is when you don’t realize the time passing, and at two and a half hours, it flew by. I was completely immersed in the storytelling, which is always a good sign.
NTR absolutely steals the show with yet another impeccable performance, playing both the roles of father and son. Since it’s been almost a week since the movie’s release, I feel comfortable discussing some spoilers. As the father, NTR is menacing yet subtle, while as the son, he’s innocent but also ferocious. This duality is handled beautifully.
I also loved Saif Ali Khan’s performance. He doesn’t have many dialogues, but his eyes and body language speak volumes. He was the perfect casting choice for his role. Srikanth, too, shines in another strong role, doing complete justice to it. As for Prakash Raj as Singappa, there’s really nothing new to say—he’s consistently excellent, and his role as the narrator of the entire story adds gravitas.
The film is packed with emotionally charged scenes. Koratala Siva’s direction and screenplay ensure that you remain glued to the screen throughout. There’s always something happening—whether it’s drama or action, the narrative keeps pulling you in. The interval fight scene, in particular, is fantastic, with some impressive stunts. I especially loved the scene where NTR confronts the gang after they tease his sister—it’s impactful, and the timing is perfect.
The songs are fantastic, but the true backbone of the film is Anirudh’s music and background score. His background score elevates even the most ordinary scenes to a whole new level. I loved all the songs, especially the melodious number between NTR and Jahnavi.
Speaking of Jahnavi, she dances with such ease alongside NTR. She matches his moves effortlessly, and it’s clear she’s made for South Indian cinema—she has that star quality. I truly hope she takes on more roles in the South and continues to shine, just like her mother.
The film does end a bit abruptly, and it doesn’t quite hit the same cliffhanger high as Baahubali. However, with tight screenplay, NTR’s exceptional performance, gripping action sequences, and memorable songs, Devara Part 1 is absolutely worth the watch.
I love cinema so I don't want rate films with numbers. If you stopped watching this film because of any negative rating, in my opinion, you can go and watch it.
Thank you, Koratala Siva garu, for delivering such a wonderful movie. After the pressure of Acharya, you’ve definitely come through.
I’m eagerly waiting for Devara Part 2!
