Ulajh - Very good Spy Thriller

( Source: IMDB )

I watched Ulajh on Netflix, and I really enjoyed it. As I mentioned earlier, the trailer had already piqued my interest, so I decided to give the movie a go. This isn't meant to be a review since I’m neither a filmmaker nor an expert in the craft of cinema—just sharing my personal opinion, and you’re free to agree or disagree.

The movie begins with an intriguing premise that immediately captured my attention and kept me engaged throughout. The tight screenplay maintained my curiosity, making me eager to see what would happen next. What stood out most to me was the direction and writing; the scenes had an authentic feel, especially in their portrayal of the foreign embassy setting.

Janhvi Kapoor was fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoyed her performance. It's evident she put in a lot of hard work, and her acting skills have visibly improved. I don’t understand why she receives so much criticism—she's relatively new to the industry, and it takes time for anyone to refine their craft. I don’t believe she takes anything for granted, and in my view, she did a commendable job.

The supporting cast also delivered strong performances, especially Gulshan Devaiah, whose portrayal of Nakul is memorable. Roshan Mathew played a pivotal role that added depth to the protagonist’s journey, providing solid support. The writing was sharp, and the direction effectively conveyed the tension the lead character, Suhana, experiences. The screenplay kept me engaged throughout the film, which is a testament to its strength.

That said, there was one aspect that didn’t sit well with me: the sudden romance between a Deputy Commissioner and someone she just met, quickly escalating to a physical relationship. Given her position and the circumstances, this plot point could have been handled more thoughtfully. However, aside from that, Ulajh is definitely worth watching.

If you have some time, I’d recommend checking it out on Netflix.
